In a rare example of good taste by the Recording Academy, Wilco recently won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album for 2004's A Ghost Is Born and deservedly so. I've been a big Wilco fan ever since the release of their 2002 album, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" where, uh, Jay Bennett's presence became more apparent. I think "A Ghost Is Born" was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

I'm so glad that this thread popped up. It totally made my day after another dreary session on the job. BTW Walrus, using Wilco was genius. I was ROFL hardcore after I read it. My inner-Bateman needed to come out and play. Thanks.
