Burning Brides / Billy Talent
« on: August 01, 2003, 02:45:00 pm »
So last night i ventured the 9 long blocks from my house to the Ottobar and saw the Burning Brides.  I also "stole" a few songs from opening band Billy Talent...a canadian rock band whos singer had much the energy of Andrew WK and the stage presence of I cant remember his name from the Refused/Intl Noise Conspiracy...very good stuff with a TON of energy and they even covered "Waiting Room" to fit into Bmore/DC.
The Burning Brides came on, sound checking themselves after it appeared they had already begun and kind of made a slow start but not a problem, they jammed by the end.  They had much more oompf to them than when i saw them last with DOLL in DC.
I had a chance to talk with the drummer from BB and was like the nicest (and shortest) guy EVER. He gave me some very interesting outlooks on what REALLY happens at Lollapalooza too..haha. and he likes "the Music" just as much as me!!

I feel enlightened and the Burning Brides really do kick ass.

Crap, was going to go to this show but was stuck in New Jersey checking out a car with a friend.  The car was worth missing the show though, a 1969 Lincoln continental with 19,000 miles on it.  Still smells new inside.

I was totally surprised at the number of people there. maybe cause it was Thursday? and ottobar doesnt seem to get as much of the rock crowd it seems.  Punk shows sell out, but even Ours didnt have TOO many people there.

I think Burning Brides need to get their second album out.  It's been two-plus years since Fall of The Plastic Empire was released.

 But yeah....they rock.

The drummer guy said last night that they were GOING to go back into the studio, but then got on the lollapalooza thing, and once they are done that, its off to record album #2.  He said, early next year would be a good bet.

Nope that is a Mark III, not the Continental.  Similar looks, but the continental is a unibody car (one of the largest ever).  It is similar to this one (which is a 67 and in my driveway...)
