It was okay. Glad to support Curt on his tour (which seems to be just him, a mic, an acoustic and an amp) but I think it's tough for one guy to carry a show with just his voice and a guitar (although motherscratcher can really play that guitar).
It's kind of like the J Mascis acoustic show a couple years ago. Cool, to hear the songs played in a different, mellow way, but I love the guy for his blistering guitar work and vocals. This was more of a Starbucks version of the Meat Puppets (when he played MP songs).
The songs he played from MP II and Up on the Sun were great to hear, though he mostly avoided the fried guitar solos from the records. Instead of the waves of guitar at the end of Plateau, he played the individual notes, and he skipped the "let's get way out there" jam at the end of Oh Me, which was disappointing.
That's not to say that he didn't play much guitar though. He was constantly picking and strumming, and he really is one of the great underrated guitarists from the 80s indie scene.
I thought Mike Maloney, the opener, was annoying and boring.
