Dios Forced to Change Bandname by Dio!

"In what's become one of the weirdest and most trivial name-changing fiascoes since Oingo Boingo became simply "Boingo", Californian psych-pop folkies Dios have been made to alter their bandname, in cooperation with a cease-and-desist order from Ronnie James Dio, who, since 1983, has fronted the hilarious cheese-metal band Dio."

 It gets better:

"The 62 year-old Dio-- who has also fronted Elf, Rainbow and Black Sabbath (post-Ozzy years) at various points throughout his career-- contended that the two band names sounded too much alike, and added support to the claim that heavy metal fans can get befuddled over one letter of the alphabet. "It seems confusing to the public to have a band called Dio and a band called Dios," Dio's manager and wife Wendy told Rolling Stone recently."

Obviously, one should know better than to fuck with Dio.

You love that site huh?!   :D

Dio just lends himself so perfectly to parody.

The really sad thing is that I have actually seen him twice in concerto. As recently as last summer.

I never had the pleasure of seeing him live, but Sabbath's Heaven and Hell was one of the first albums I ever bought.

I like this Dio story also.

It's limited to two, isn't it...that's too bad -- I'm not going if I can't sit with my two friends...  We'll see what happens with the general sale.    :(

Didn't know you were interested Bags! Yes - it's 2 per show.

Just added a warmup date also. Here's info I received in an email:

Get this! You all know by now about Pearl Jam's mini-tour in October 2004. Well, it has just been confirmed that Pearl Jam and Death Cab for Cutie will be playing a special show at the Fleet Center in Boston, MA on Tuesday, September 28th at 7:30!!!

"It's been awhile since we've played together and we were all excited about coming together and playing a special show somewhere before we kick off the Vote for Change tour. Boston is one of our all-time favorite cities to play so it seemed like the perfect place to do that," says Mike McCready of Pearl Jam on why the band decided to play Boston.

The 10C and Ticketmaster are having a fan club only pre-sale on Wednesday and Thursday, August 25th and 26th, from 12-6 pm Eastern time. Your special Ticketmaster access code for this show is the same code you received for the Vote for Change presale. Please note, your ticket access code is viewable in your member profile on pearljam.com once you have logged in. This password may only be used once for this ticket presale, so do not share it with anyone.

For this show only, 10C members (as of August 6, 2004) are allowed to purchase up to 4 tickets. Tickets will be $35 and $45 plus applicable fees. Please note, this show is in no way associated with Vote for Change, ACT, or MoveOn.org, so the age and residency restrictions do not apply. Anyone can come!!! Yet again, since this is a unique show opportunity and not a regular Pearl Jam tour, seniority for seat selection is not applicable. This pre-sale is internet-only and you may purchase the tickets at Ticketmaster.com.

Weâ??d love to have the house packed full of 10C members, so weâ??ll leave it up to you. No doubt, it will be a very special night and a successful pre-sale could inspire good things to happen ... so spread the word.
