that was a great show on Wed. nite, almost the entire crowd was dancing and having a blast, unlike the typical "too-hip-to-move" audiences. i guess the man and the band played too long because the lights were turned on and the music was cut off except for the drums, they kept on playing and the crowd kept on going for about a half hour, great time, they left it all on stage, i peed my pants, that tends to happen often.........

Great, great, great, great show!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only bad thing is that they didnt have time to play "One Nation under a groove" and "Atomic Dog". I saw them two years ago and they seem to be getting better with each show. Like you said the crowd was so into it unlike most of these other crowds who just stand around looking bored to tears. They don't lie when they say there ain't no party like a P Funk party cause a P Funk party don't stop.......

Not to peal back the curtain too much, but the whole lights coming on and sound being turned off if a carefully choreographed thing between the club and the band. It's a way of making the band save face by not looking like they want to stop playing. I mean you've seen George, he's like 90, do you think he wants to be on stage for longer than he has to be?

I don't believe that one bit, i woulda believed it more if they had done "Atomic Dog" and "One Nation", but since those two songs werent played then YES i do believe he wanted to play alot longer. He does though need to keep his glasses on cause he looks about 60 years younger, once he took them off, he did look 90!!!!!!!

you don't believe it one bit?  it happens the exactly the same way every time.  the daily sheet goes something like this:
 
 9:30 onstage
 12:00 lights on
 12:15 monitors off
 12:30 stage power cut
 12:30 curfew
 
 every six months, we do this.  if they don't get to songs that they would normally play, it's because they can't get themselves on stage on time.  you'd think that after doing the same damn thing for 30 years, they'd be able to be on time, but no.

i saw them last time and was very underwhelmed.  too much new hip hoppy rappy stuff and not nearly enough old school funk.

NO i'm saying it wasnt choreographed between the club and the band. I know you guys have a schedule but i dont think George Clinton really cared about it. Anyways why is it Justin Timberlake is gonna be able to play beyond 12:30 a.m. and George Clinton not?

replace "george clinton" with "george clinton's management" and, to put it quite simply, you are wrong.  they even asked us to bump up the time we turned the lights on because they wanted to get out early because of an early call time the next day.

because george clinton was scheduled to end at 12:30a and justin timberlake isn't.
 
 the club has no set curfew.  we try to have shows done by the time the last metro train leaves, but it doesn't always work out that way.  we have late shows on a fairly regular basis.

So i guess when they are up there chanting "Ain't no party like a P Funk party cause a P Funk party dont stop", they are actually lying to us. It stops when they have an early call the next morning.
