I'd reccomend crate training the dog. Makes it much easier to house-break the dog, and plus they really dig having a little den of their own.
We are doing that
with our last dog, she hated the crate, which was harder on us. However, with this one we are making it nice and cozy.
Something that I thought was great was that during that huge terrible storm last night -- she didn't even flinch!! Not once did she freak out. She's quite a mellow dog.
Rather than let her have those gross pigs ears (they smell and can make the dogs sick) we found those little nylon bones quite helpful. Damn this dog loves to chew!
And Jag you're right -- Poodles are one of the smartest breeds. Although I do question if people confuse "easily trained" with "very very intelligent." Either way, poodles are great
