DC hits NY
« on: February 06, 2006, 03:15:00 pm »
saw this on the booking page for Pianos this weekend:

 Friday, February 10th

 Violator
 Bishop Allen
 Soft Complex
 Cedars

Nice to see some DC bands playing together out of town.

We'll actually be in New York on Saturday too.  Didn't look in Philly this time around - maybe next time?

I didn't see that you guys were on the bill too until very recently.  Excited about it - I wish DC bands played together out of town more regularly.  Is Paul with you guys for this show?

The songs I've heard from Bishop Allen (admittedly few) sound a lil like a poor man's Modest Mouse. youaintnopicasso.blogspot.com is a big fan (blog title is a BA lyric), and probably has some songs up there, and some tunes from their new album are making the rounds...

I only have 2 or 3 songs by them but I like em. Quirky pop...sorta like the Pixies w/ less distortion....

That's good to hear about Bishop Allen...Piano's is definitely expecting a big crowd to show up for them which is always good to hear when yer part of the opening bands..we have a bunch of friends in NYC who'll be coming so it should be good for all bands involved.

Paul will not be with us for this show as he's unable to make it.

Agree about local bands playing together more outside of DC...I know we shared a bill with Army of Me in Norfolk but can't recall playing with other locals out of state...Cedars would be happy to have some brews after load-in and talk about the possibilities..time to conquer DC and beyond!  :)
