LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- The wife of a man stabbed more than a dozen times at the home of "Five for Fighting's" John Ondrasik has been arrested along with her boyfriend in connection with the attack.
Alba Canton, 34, and Eduardo Garcia, 39, were arrested Monday. Garcia was booked for investigation of attempted murder and jailed on $500,000 bail; Canton was booked for investigation of being an accessory to attempted murder and held on $250,000 bail, authorities said.
Ondrasik was not at his San Fernando Valley home July 28 when the stabbing occurred.
Alba Canton was working as a part-time caretaker at the musician's Encino residence when her husband, 44-year-old Carlos Canton, dropped by unexpectedly to take her to dinner, police said in a statement Tuesday.
A man came out of a bedroom closet and attacked him, police said. Carlos Canton, critically wounded in the attack, has since recovered.
Investigators later learned Alba Canton, who waited two hours before calling police, was having an affair with a security guard who matched the description of the attacker, police said.
Ondrasik, whose one-man band is named for the number of minutes a hockey player gets in the penalty box for fighting, had a hit with 2000's "Superman (It's Not Easy)," which became an anthem of survival after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
