I've been going to the gym in the building where I work for years now, and have noticed a curious species. There are quite a few people who go to the gym on a daily basis, but somehow still manage to stay out of shape.

Most of the people at my gym seem to be grads of either UMD or UVA. Every day, all they talk about is college football. (sometimes college basketball in the winter). They always refer to the teams in the first person... "You guys played really well last week...I can't believe you went for it on fourth and long and made it."..."We didn't play so well. We've got to start executing better if we want to make it to a bowl game." Men in their 40's and 50's still clinging to their collegiate existence. Totally weird.

I notice this as well. I call them "35 hundred-ers" as in the number of calories I assume they must eat daily.

What about the 'no-necks' as I call them (No necks because their heads look so tiny in comparison to their huge shoulders that seem to extend right to their ears, hence the no-neck name....they come under the homo-erotic mirror gazer group, they seem to be in good shape, actually over-developed in some areas, usually the arms, shoulders or thighs....... only they don't actually work out. One is usually sat on a piece of apparatus but not actually using it, while the other is stood leaning on it while they chat...can't they just stay home and do that, or at least go to the pub and have a pint and chat.

I pray we do not. I think 35 hundred-ers are indiginous to all gyms in the United States.
