Ash at Black Cat
« on: June 09, 2003, 06:28:00 pm »
If you've read some of my other posts, I am becoming infamous for my inability to judge if a show will sell out or not.  I've read cool things about Ash and definitely want to hit the show Wed.  A friend of a friend is sure it will sell out.  Anyone think this is the case??

Is either opening band (White Light Motorcade, Just Jigger) worth catching??

 Thanks...

White Light Motorcade was solid when I saw them in concert a few months ago. They're being hyped pretty hard right now though...they're sort of like The Vines and/or Guns N' Roses, and I mean that in the best way possible.

That sounds like a fair description of White Light Motorcade. Have not seen them live but from the music I've heard, they are a harder rocking kind of band. Sort of an odd match for Ash, which seems par for the course with Ash shows. Certainly beats Dashboard Confessional! Don't think too many others will be going just for White Light. If I remember correctly, not too many people were thrilled with them when they played with The Ravenettes and Longwave recently at AU back in March.

Ash have been around a number of times in the past year but often in odd places or supporting bands that Ash fans had no interest in. My guess is that a lot of the Ash fans will be there to finally get to see them headline. (Did they headline at U. Of Md.?) Others will forfeit the show because they are either tired of them or sitting this one out since they've seen them and opting for other shows. Could be very wrong but I have a feeling that the show won't sell out but there will be close to a full house.

they opened for coldplay last fall. and handed out fun matches that said "burn baby burn" on the cover.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh hahahahahahaha.

Yeah right.  And Smashing Pumpkins are getting back together, and the Stooges are making a new album.  Well scractch the last one.  But the day Ash headline a show at my dirty little University is the day that I will stop hating on U of Maryland permenently.

Oh, and they tore it up before Coldplay last fall.  There's no question who should have been headlining that show.

Kosmo, do you email Black Cat regularly?  I emailed on Saturday morning to ask about the Brendan Benson set times (didn't email earlier because I assume they'd dismiss a question like that days, or even a day, before the show).

I did get an answer, saying Brendan should go on about midnight.  The answer was emailed at 11:24 p.m., so wasn't of much help!

this is my first time emailing them, but other regulars have done so getting decent info back from them.  usually the answer comes sometime in the evening when they open up.
