concert....cancelled?!
« on: February 12, 2006, 08:47:00 am »
Hi everyone, I live in Virginia and it snowed a motherload in the time between last night and this morning. I was just curious as to the show even going on tonight. Did I mention its my birthday today as well!?!? I've been waiting for this concert for months!

 Thank you all, take care.

No it's not cancelled at least not yet. They just posted the times all the bands are going on. If it cancels it will be on the homepage

I already talked to a guy there this morning and he said the show is on, even though there is a state of emergency. He said the roads are fine, have a hard time believing that, but whatever. We have a foot of snow and even if I could get into DC, I can't get out of my own neighborhood. Needless to say daughter is crying upstairs and the other one who was driving up from Richmond is pretty upset as well. No snow all season and it has to happen today. Happy Birthday by the way, William's birthday was yesterday! We are trying to decide if we should sell our four tickets. I hate these decisions.

Yeah, there's no way I'm even going to try to make it up from Richmond for the show.  I hope they enjoy playing to the small # of people who can get there.

I wonder if the bands will actually make it to the show - aren't they coming from NJ?  That can't be a fun drive down...

maybe this should be in the FAQ, I'm not sure, but it's on topic...

...if a lot of people aren't going to be able to make it, and hence, a sold out show will really end up being half-full or what not, would they let other people buy tickets at the door to fill capacity or? i have a ticket, but a i know some people close to the 930 that could probably go, unlike those snowed-in further away, and i was wondering if these people should try to go to the concert and get a ticket or if there is no possible way they could obtain one even if half the ticketholders don't show up.

thanks and i hope that made sense.

Well, here's our update. One of the roads in our neighborhood is cleared, so as long as we get down the hill to the main road, we should be able to get out. So call us insane, but the Richmond daughter and roommate are on their way, and the other daughter stopped crying (she wasn't really crying, she was just not happy at all) and is getting ready. Now we can only hope that the concert doesn't get canceled. If anything happens between now and then, we have 4 tickets waiting at the box office that we will be trying to sell at the last minute. This whole situation sucks worse than I can say. But I have to say thank you to God for letting our power come back on quickly, and I feel for the people who don't have it yet. I hate complaining when there is so much worse crap going on than missing a show.

Did Acceptance or hellogoodbye actually play?  I'm looking at the website now and I noticed that it only shows set times for Panic! and TAI...did the other two bands not make it?

I have no idea what these Richmonders are complaining about. I'm in Richmond and we got maybe 1.5 inches. The roads were clear 8am Sunday morning. Stupid fucking southerners.

Ive lived in Richmond for 40+ years now.  One learns quickly that the 'natives' cant handle any sort of weather other than full sunshine.  If the weatherman mentions the word snow, there is a mad dash at every local grocery store.  The worst ones are those who by a 4 wheel drive vehicle so they will be able to drive in the snow!  I am surprised schools were not closed for a week over this.
