Bobby Bare Jr. meets the Moz
« on: January 19, 2005, 11:45:00 am »
While trying to get to Trondheim we were routed through Mancheter England only to have our flight canceled and have to be rerouted back through London-while in line I found myself directly behind THE MOZZZZZZ-the hair - the side burns - the chin----he sat down on an isle seat and as I passed I had to do it- I said ??hi my name is Bobby Bare Jr. and I am from Nashville, tn and I missed your show at the rhyman auditorium because my wife was having our baby?
he laughed shyly and asked ??did she start having the baby while at my show?
I replied ??no we were inducing-but please come back to nashville? We both giggled and I floated to my seat I didn??t bother him with the fact that I recorded a nashville version of ??what difference does it make? Nor did I tell him that we shared the same publicist I have chose not to meet many of my heros cause of the possibility of them being an asshole- Morrissey is not one of these people-so I am really happy about our chance enounter-I am sure he had no Idea who I was and he was really nice

such interesting lives these famous people live.  warhol was correct in the perceptions of time and influential space.  wrap it up and sell it off as prime taste.  we as a whole will love all after effects.

I would love to bump into Morrissey like that. Being the same age and from the same part of the world I could probably have a normal conversation with him, other than, "You're Moz...that's awsome"

Other's I would love to meet. (dead or alive)

 Oscar Wilde
 Edgar Allen Poe
 My dad
 George Best
 Marrianne Faithful

I would put Bowie on the list, but to be honest, all I would probably be able to mumble would be "you're Bowie....that's awsome"

So true.  I remember reading a journal entry by Elefant where a girl was reading a magazine in La Guardia.  He said to the girl, "what magazine is that?" She said the name of it and asked why?  He said because that's a picture of my band.  She looked at him and smiled politely.  He realized that it was Beth Orton he was talking to, so he said, hey, you're Beth Orton aren't you?  And they had a pleasant chat.

i'm probably repeating myself, blame it on old age..

but i've said this before to musicians i'm meeting for the first time.  i wish we could talk as if it's five minutes into the conversation.  that way all of the gushing, nervousness, etc is over.  beyond that first five minutes the conversation usually becomes as "normal" as any.
