hsftival.com is just as informative as this board!

 "Injury cancels Washington, DC show
 July 12th, 2007

A dental injury has canceled Dolores O??Riordan??s planned show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC tonight.

A member of the crew told Zombieguide that Dolores broke her front tooth on a Japanese rice cracker at dinner. She did not show up for the 5:00 PM soundcheck as planned, and evidently never left her tour bus. Concert goers saw crew returning Dolores??s clothes and personal effects to the tour bus after 7:30.

Staff members for the 9:30 Club announced the cancellation around 8:00 (first announced as a postponement, later changed to a cancellation).

A person close to Dolores reported that she was in quite a lot of pain, but ??were lining up dentists as we speak.?

It is currently unknown if Dolores will perform tomorrow night??s scheduled Philadelphia show. Crew members were preparing for the trip to Philadelphia, but did not know if it would occur as scheduled.

Fans who bought tickets will receive full refunds from their place of purchase through July 27th according to verbal announcements at the show and a post on the 9:30 Club website. Major online ticket vendors such as Ticketmaster should refund automatically."

I don't know the poster's source...The reference to TM is obviously wrong.
Um, I'm not even going to touch the reason for the cancel. ;P

Still curious, basically news was told to those outside club and then posted online? I still want a text message. My worst nightmare is driving all the way to a show to have it cancelled. I don't generally log on before I leave for a show, do you?

No ones stopping you from setting up a text message system to the phone number of each person who has ever bought a ticket to a concert or sporting event.  But why stop at whether the show is still going on or not?  It can send you messages as to how long the line to get in is, the set list (in real time in case your running late), which bars have the hot bartenders and shortest lines, etc.  Go ahead, make millions.

No...not exactly what I was gearing for...Something along the lines of what they do at SXSW. I suppose one's phone number would have to be set up for texting from tickets.com for cancellations. Just brainstorming...

Well, this is similar to what they do at SXSW...They announce last minute shows or changes, etc. You go ahead, I think people who have to be connected 24/7 would like your idea.

I suppose next you'll be wanting airlines to call you personally if a flight is delayed.

I said 'call you personally', besides, seeing as we have to be at the airport 6 weeks before our flight departs these days you just check on the monitor to see if it's delayed.
