However, my car was manufactured in 1987, so that probably helps.
It also helps to park on a well lit, highly trafficked street such as U or Georgia Avenue

If you park on the street, I'd suggest putting everything in the trunk before you park the car.  Otherwise, you might as well scream "Look - all the good stuff is going in the trunk!"

I had my window smashed and everything stolen out of my trunk once when I parked in front of that school near the gas station.  Nothing was visible, but I think someone watched me put my coat in the trunk.

I almost always park in the lot now.  I figure I can park there 20 times before it costs as much as a replacement window.

The only problem I've ever had is coming out of a show rather late (after midnite) and finding a pumpkin.

Sorry for the length.  I had a run in with the parking attendant once.  I had parked in the lot around 5pm for a show last February.  There was no parking attendant on duty so I had nobody to pay.  I did see a 930 employee on his way into work and told him that I was there for the show and asked who I should pay for parking.  He told me that since I was there so early that I would not have to pay.

 Okay sweet.

The show ends, I hang out in the back bar for a while, and as I am walking back fromt the club I walk by a unfortunate falla begging for money.  When I get to my car I see some guy walking to my car dressed in a big hooded jacket.  Seeing as most of the cars were gone already I figured he was another bum coming to harrass me for money.  I backed up out of my spot with him slapping the side of my car and he starts yelling at me.  After I see his face I finally recognize that he is the parking attendant with the heavy accent.  He starts claiming to the police officer on duty that I was trying to hit him and skip out without paying.  I told him I wasn't trying to do anything of the sort, that I was told by a 9:30 employee that I didn't have to pay and that he honestly looked like a bum looking for money.  I gave him my $7 and left.

Sorry for the length, but it kinda pissed me off that the parking attendant was harrassing me and tried to sick a cop on me when in fact I thought I was being assaulted by another bum.

Seth or 930 mgt - If you guys read this please let us know what the real policy is?  I assume now that if you park super early that someone will be there to collect after the show.  If there is going to be some kind of collection please give the parking attendant an orange vest or something to indicate who they are.  There was simply no way to tell the difference between the parking attendant and the bum who was just outside the parking lot.

if you're going to park in that neighborhood on the street , leave all your valuables home and don't put stuff in the trunk.  as someone who has had his car broken into a few times, it's not worth the trouble.  thieves hit cars with stuff in the back seat and it's pretty easy to break into a trunk.

I've parked there a bunch of times and had no trouble.  But after a big and expensive lesson in NYC, I don't have anything in my car that you can see.

Stick with U street, if you can.

if there are cars parked in the lot early, a staph member will usually come to the line and ask if anyone is parked in the lot and take your money then.  i don't know who told you that you wouldn't have to pay, but they were wrong.  it is your responsibility to make sure that you have paid if you park in the lot.

in the future, if you have any problems or questions, please ask a member of the staph at the door, or at the box office.  there's no way to address issues like this if we don't know they happen.
