Fri. Dec. 2nd at Marx Cafe: PANIC's Olli Fights the Big

Hey there---

Just wanted to give you a heads up that Brandon and I will be welcoming Mr. Panic himself---Olli---to the turntable booth this Friday for the Dec. 2 edition of "We Fought the Big One" at Marx Cafe (3203 Mt. Pleasant St. NW). If you don't know who Olli is, well then, you are probably fairly new to the D.C. area (or maybe you don't get out that much).

Along with friend James Noble, Olli founded what became a legendary alternative/indie dance night here in town called Panic. Olli was responsible for the very cool avant-garde style the night became associated with, then later became one of the djs. Unfortunately, the night was put on hold a few years ago when its venue, the Metro Cafe, was shut down. While Olli now lives in Berlin where he runs his own alternative club called 8mm, he comes to visit DC twice a year, and that's when Panic ensues.  ;)

This Friday at Marx, you will get a unique opportunity to hear the kind of sets that Olli spins at 8mm. A far cry from the obvious alt & new wave hits at Panic, Olli will be spinning a much darker & more experimental set consisting of past & present underground favorites.

We hope to see you there...

 Rick
