In principle, I tend to agree with you.
However, my wife got me a modest sized (by boardie standards) ipod for my 40th birthday, and now that she is home with the child and I'm taking the Metro all alone (we used to ride together), having 80 albums or so to choose from every day makes the ride much more bearable.
And I never had a cell phone until now, either. But she insists that we need them in case of emergency. With a pay as you go plan, it's only about $100 per phone per year, plus the initial $20 investment. We may cut back to one phone. I'm definitely not a cell phone kind of guy, but if it makes her happy, I'll happily live with it.

I don't need to carry my entire music collection from the past 35 years around with me so I have absolutely no use for one.
Same with cellphones, just sell me one that makes a fucking phone call without dropping out in mid converfuckingsation.
I see all these chumps walking around the dealership with these brand new $600 I-phones, which will be $29.99 with activation by years end.
