Alright, I've got to be honest here, but that was very disappointing to a guy who grew up watching the T-Birds.  Your floor's not banked for increased speeds, there's no rail to flip over, I didn't see a single slingshot, and most of those chicks looked like lesbians - and not the lipstick kind!  It might have been the poor video quality, but that was more like a new sport between Wellesly and Reed, and less like the smokin hot Roller Derby of the 70's.

 This is roller derby!

1. I'm not a DC roller girl, I'm Charm City.
 2. There are both flat and banked track leagues. DC and Bmore are both flat track. Hell, DC doesn't even have a skating rink, they use an indoor sports complex.
 3. There aren't barriers to flip over, instead, the audience is brought to the edge of the rink and skaters go into the crowds.
 4. Girls just don't go around slingshotting willy nilly... you watched a 90 second clip. It happens.
 5. If you read anything about modern roller derby, you'll read the lines "This is nothing like the 70s roller derby..."

Are you implying that you have the lip stick kind up in Charm City?

Bummer - I was a big fan of the 70's version, I think it was the hair.  But you are correct, my only research on the new roller derby has been this thread.

But there's still catfights and unbridled, post-feminist female aggression, right?

If I knew what on earth you were talking about, I bet this would be a pretty funny line.
