City Paper Blows...

What does it take to get some local band coverage out of the city paper. Especially a DC-oriented event filled with DC bands, some of whom are actually good. What does it take I ask, What!!!!

The citypaper's only worthwhile use is event listings and classifieds.  Everything else is bunk.  You can get Savage Love over at The Onion a day earlier.

hmmmm...i always thought the citypaper did a decent job with covering local bands. there's only so many you can cover. there are hundreds of bands in this area. whether they are good or not is purely subjective.

as someone who books mostly national acts, it is in my best interest if they wrote about touring bands. local bands will always have their friends show up (if they have friends), while i've seen too many touring bands get no coverage and draw three people out because nobody knows them yet.

the best scenario is to cover both local and national acts. most city papers have yet to find a proper balance.

But not with those great pictures.  Shawn Belshwander (totally hacked his name I think) is brilliant.
