It looks like The Warfield holds 2250 and Bimbo's is about 700.   I think The Fillmore is right in there.  The Warner books shows occasionally.  It's rare, but it happens.  Weren't there a couple  of Widespread Panic shows there last week?

Clearly this thread needs some ombudsmanship:

 Warfield 2,500
 Fillmore 1,250
 Bimbos 700
 Great American Music Hall 600
 Independent 500

San Francisco Bay Area (including San Jose) 7.2 Million People
 DC/Baltimore 8.2 Million People

Oh, and the USSR doesn't exist any longer.  Hasn't for almost 20 years.

Whoa! I guess my memories of living there 31 years ago are deceiving me.

With the White House leadership we have nowadays, who needs Soviet communists.

That's the week before Coachella weekend. It happens to SF every year.

But, SF gets some rare ones on Thursday, Friday and Saturday:

Thursday - Calvin Harris at 330 Ritch
Friday - Plasticines at Rickshaw Stop
Saturday - Goldfrapp at Warfield (early)
Saturday - Simian Mobile Disco / Cut Copy / Black Kids @ Mezzanine (late, doors at 10)

bonus on Sunday: The Mae Shi with PRE and XBXRX at Bottom of the Hill.

See you Saturday and Sunday?

 Raconteurs at Bimbo's
Yeasayer and Man Man at GAMH
DCFC and Cave Singers at the Fillmore
Caribou and Fuck Buttoms at the Independent
 The Verve @ Warfield

Same night. Maybe DC could hit three of these at once, maybe. But, we're not SF.

Sadly, I'm on a red-eye friday night and will not be there over the weekend. I'd check out Calvin Harris at Popscene, but I am not in love with that place. Waited waaay to long in line to see Vampire Weekend earlier this year, and was unimpressed completely with the band and the venue. Though a lot of acts play there I'd like to see. Bottom of the Hill is a bit better Venue IMHO, though I perfer Popscene's location.

isnt that like comparing apples and oranges? Bottom of the Hill is an actual concert venue. Popscene (330 ritch) was (and probably still is) a dance club. bands might do shows here and there, but if you notice most these shows are on thurs nights because that is the night of popscene.

it used to be a spot for after-parties(on thurs nights) but most of us went to hear the best new britpop and indie and dance and if you were lucky the band might play a short set. (they also had other nights there) now its turned into full sets with bands from the UK often having their first gig in the US here. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Besides if it werent for popscene, i dont think most these bands would be playing in SF. Aaron Axelson (of live 105) is pretty good on finding some hot new talent that no one has ever heard of. His show on Sunday nights is worth a listen.

Who did you end up seeing? Surprisingly, all those 5 shows were sold out by show time...
