Greenbelt Music Fest 4/19
« on: April 15, 2008, 01:10:00 pm »
For those Greenbelters and others looking for something to do this Sat, there is what looks to be interesting lineup of music scheduled.

As part of the on-going dysfunction that is the New Deal Cafe, the usually organizer for the music events has been pushed aside.  This means that instead of the usual lineup of hippie, folkie, suburban blues  :p ... This time it's got some acts of interest like Parthenon Huxley widely revered by the power pop "underground", and The Points spastic punk rock and a couple of other names I recognize but haven't had a chance to check via their Myspace pages.

 1:15, Outside, 3 Piece Suit (surf/rockabilly)
1:30, Inside, Least Common Denominator (progressive fusion rock)
1:50, Outside, Arthur Loves Plastic (electronica)
2:15, Outside, Gina DeSimone (blues for the swing set)
2:15, Inside, The Male Gaze (dreamy-noisy pop)
3:00, Inside, play with me (peanut butter sandwich and soy milk party music)
3:05, Outside, Arthur Loves Plastic (electronica)

6:40, Outside, Arthur Loves Plastic (electronica)
7:00, Outside, The Points (freak-out helicopter jet punk)
8:00, Outside, DJs Muramasa & Synz: the collab set (DJs)

Wow never heard of P Hux but they sound allright

And in that power pop style, I see your man Andy Bopp of Myracle Brah is playing for free tonite at Vermillon restaurant in Alexandria

And I finally saw Starbelly when they played an opener set at Iota, and they were amazing. Now I just wanna see Starbelly again but they don't seem to be very active. Only consolation is that it looks like the main guy Dennis Schocket will have his own CD out this month

P Hux have been around for awhile, I've never had to a chance to see them...

The saga of current  Starbelly lineup is unfortunate, the drummer and lead singer/bassist got fed up with waiting for the other two newer members of the group to go into the studio and record their parts. Will have to lookout for Dennis's solo effort. But whats interesting is the original lineup of Starbelly is now working as Andy Bopp's backing band, wonder if it's a band or solo show in Alexandria tonight for him.
