The only people who achieve success from books like that are the authors and their bankers.

Much more valuable wisdom can be gleaned from the classics:

I hear the section on sending out memos is invaluable.

Let's just say it puts an end to the lame, old, "I don't think I received that memo" excuse.

We are closed because Discovery Channel is closed... If it's any consolation, I will be working all of next weekend.

We used to go bar hopping and meet in the company's parking lot.  After going out until 1 am or so, I would go in and send out some e-mails.  I would always get these amazed responses about how good I was working so late and all.

Heck, had to use the restroom anyways...

No, I work for a company that produces shows for Discovery...

How about this: I will come see Exit Clov if you will come see The Cooper Temple Clause?  ;)  Only kidding. I will try to come see your girl regardless.

Well, Exit Clov were great. Beautiful vocals and energetic, grooving jams. I am glad the sound was sorted out because I especially loved the dual violins. Which lady is your girlfriend, redsock? I was charmed by both of them. And God damn. Who is that bass player? He is very good! I liked his style a lot.

I'm sorry Kurosawa, did we say $100 or $150?  :D

I'm glad you came, and that you liked them. I did see you in the crowd, but by the time i made my way through it, you had split. Some of the folks on the board think the musicianship sucks. I personally have always thought Brett, the bassist, was pretty damn good. I'm happy you enjoyed. I think the turn-out was good enough that they'll certainly get another night there.

Yes, I was pleased to see that it was crowded!
