Did anyone here see The Comas and if so, how were they? I definitely want to see them sometime.

I thought the comas were pretty boring. Their name fits. They sound like a bad cross between the Jayhawks and Matthew Sweet. Their songs don't sound developed enough (they all have ok hooks but the music isn't that interesting). When they talked they were completely annoying. Extremely annoying. Especially the girl. But don't get me wrong. The guy was annoying, too. They both sang with lots of conviction, though.

One redeeming thing: the young-mick-fleetwood drummer was funny to watch.

They did appear to be working out some kinks (too much time lapsed in between songs for tuning, etc.), but I like their sound. Good variations. I wasn't up close, but I could tell the on-stage chatter seemed a bit nervous. They weren't the worst opener I've seen. Anyhow, I'd see them again. I don't have their album but I'd be interested to hear them recorded -- a bit more polished. I thought they rocked a bit more than Luna, who I felt as though were singing a bunch of French lullabys. I said The Comas were similar to The Shins with a splash of Sonic Youth. A friend compared to The Pixies.

i thought the comas were boring as well. not bad, not good, just there. they sounded like a merge records cast-off or something, just a mediocre, unchallenging indie-rock band with no memorable hooks, semi-annoying vocals, and competent musicianship. they have potential but are a ways off from realizing it.

they definitely would come off better in a small space like the warehouse or DC9.
