car stolen
« on: June 05, 2008, 04:25:00 pm »
My car got stolen from 8th St. last night! It was locked, had nothing inside of worth and is a piece of crap. I was in the 9:30 Club at the time. I don't blame the club -- the staff has been golden about helping me. I just wanted to give y'all a heads-up about being extra careful.

that really sucks ... i always think that our car will never be jacked because it's 15+ years old, looks like a POS, and we always take the radio out of the dash ... but i've heard stories like this all too often

aren't older once popular cars often targeted because replacement parts start getting more expensive?

    2. 1995 Honda Civic
    3. 1989 Toyota Camry
    4. 1994 Dodge Caravan

yeah, that makes a lot of sense, but you have to give those numbers some statistical perspective

here's the 2005 rate of theft for a vehicle as a percentage of the total number registered:

    1. 2001 BMW M Roadster
    2. 1998 Acura Integra
    3. 2004 Mercury Marauder
    4. 1999 Acura Integra
    5. 1995 Acura Integra
    6. 2002 Audi S4
    7. 1996 Acura Integra
    8. 1997 Acura Integra
    9. 2001 Acura Integra
   10. 2000 Jaguar XJR

i have no stats to back me up, but you'd think that older cars are being stolen more often b/c they lack modern security features and/or their security vulnerabilities are well known.

1998 model year accords gained the immobilizer, with chip in key.

The same didn't hit integras until 2000.

We don't see any 98+ Accords on the lists. 2000 Integras are absent but 2001 made the bottom??

this would probably be true for those seeking to a little joyriding, but there is evidence to suggest older cars get stolen on spec for parts.. or so i've heard   :p

They didn't have a way to steal the gas, so they just took the whole car. It's going to be the new thing pretty soon.

Sorry...just trying to make light of a shitty situation. That really does suck.
