Izzard roll-call
« on: April 30, 2008, 06:21:00 pm »
i know we sorta covered this when the presale went down, but i've got a mind like a sieve... so, who'll be at DAR on thursday or friday night?  i'll be in box 9 on thursday.

review of boston show (some mild spoilers): "Izzard, 46, took the stage at a sold-out Orpheum on Monday and announced in his charming accent, ??I thought tonight I??d talk about everything.? He proceeded to do just that." link

looks like both shows are sold out... i was unable to pull up even a single for either night.

I'm in Box 9 for Friday night. Getting there early so I can be on the railing.

I'm there on Friday.

Need to look up the location, etc. on the Web -- never been there!

very funny man indeed, great times.  anyone who can riff on the relationship between god, badgers and creme brulee is going to get my respect (and laughs).  the man is a great entertainer.  KITH made me laugh even more, tho (tomorrow night!).

for what may be the first time ever, i'll go on record as saying the acoustics at DAR suck.  i've never heard a show sound so bad - the echo was untolerable at times.  i was sitting in front of the PA (suspended in the air) and i would miss words occasionally.  lots of people were complaining about how unintelligible he was at times because of the sucky sound.  one heckler brought this to eddy's attention, which prompted him to speak more directly into the mic... for a minute.  hopefully they'll improve things for tonight's show.

Logistical question for tonight:

I've never been to DAR.  How competitive is street parking?

We got there around 7:15pm and easily found a spot on Virginia Ave a couple blocks away.  There is usually parking on Constitution, but they were full up probably because of the softball leagues on the mall.

I was there Friday, and I love Izzard.  And he is HOT with the dude wear.  That said, I've seen him a few times and this was the least inspired I've seen him.  He's brilliant, but something was not at 11.  Sound on Friday was apparently better than Thursday...

Surprisingly, I enjoyed Kids in the Hall on Saturday more, and I was not looking forward to the Warner show as much as Izzard.  All made for an interesting, good weekend.
