Cutting edge Turntable Music you should book
« on: January 05, 2004, 05:45:00 pm »
I know 9:30 has been getting some shows with scratch DJs lately.  Just to let you know, there's a new wave of scratch musicians emerging now that are doing some very innovative and creative things.  Instead of just all out scratched noise, these guys are making well composed songs entirely from scratching.

 GUNKHOLE-is a scratch/jazz group out of LA.
 Composed of:

DJ D-STYLES (ex member of the Invisbl Skratch Piklz, recently released the first all-scratched album titled "Phantazmagorea")

Ricci Rucker and Mike Boo (the two cats who have been making crazy noise on the scene lately with their album titled "scethbook")

Ace: who plays live drums with the band.

These guys are making crazy noise in the scratch scene and are getting ready to do a European Tour, but might do a stop on the east coast if feasible.

If you are a promoter and are interested in having GUNKHOLE for a show, please contact

This a little write up from the Hip Hop Slam website

For the first time ever an Irish DJ won the ITF world champ when Dublin's DJ Flip took the title in Munich at the heated world finals recently..... Meanwhile D-Styles (who is our featured DJ in this issue's BAY AREA DJ PROFILE #011) was also at the ITF Finals in Germany where he was honored with the Grand Wizard Theodore Award. Be sure to get the new DVD live at the Knitting Factory featuring D along with Beat Junkies and members of Gunkhole..... Gunkhole's Mike Boo and Ricci Rucker's new enhanced-CD/book "Scetch Book"is two great things (an inspired CD and an incredibly engaging art n text. well thought out, thick bound booklet.... How do I describe it? In two words: Fuckin Amazing! For real...This one will be a collector's item fetching DJ Shadow Lesson 4 scale bids in future years on Ebay..... For more on Ricci Rucker, as well as Mars-One, and Dawgisht check out DJ Stoic's cool site www.line-in.org for his recently uploaded "winter edition"......."
