this has absolutely nothing to do with spinal tap. it features about a dozen of the most forward-thinking heavy bands currently playing. bardo pond, dead meadow, comets on fire, the hidden hand, high on fire, om, mammatus, acid king, nebula...this is essential viewing for anybody into heavy psychedelic music.

 couldn't they get non-stoners to talk about the music, so the rest of the population could relate to what's being said?  or at least interview those musicians when they weren't stoned?  "walking around in the woods, you know, is like, you know, pretty heavy" (quote taken from 1:15 of the trailer).
 
 but don't get me wrong, i like this genre of music - although i don't consider it the most psychedelic out there.  i recognize where QOTSA and other modern-day favs of mine came from.  i'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this movie.

i figured so, but it wasn't a very good joke.
 
 i get sick of the typical retarded stoner-speak, and that quote doesn't do these bands any justice. talk to bardo pond and wino from the hidden hand/obsessed/spirit caravan and ben chasny from comets on fire, and you'll hear extremely articulate people with lots of ideas.
 
 IMO, there isn't much music that is more psychedelic than bardo pond, comets on fire's last couple of records, and dead meadow. nebula's early stuff has some extremely psych moments, but the hidden hand and pearls & brass and acid king are largely riff-based. with some mighty fucking riffs.

And I just got done watching. And it was worth the wait!

Must-own for any fans of the genre.

And all the goofy stonerspeak from the trailer isn't in the movie.


A local screening->Wino Band set would make for an awesome time.

This one is already out on DVD and has gotten decent reviews though it focuses mainly on the contemporary scene.
