my DJ setlist from the Zero 7 show
« on: November 30, 2009, 02:56:08 pm »
This is what I played as the opening act at the Zero 7 show (I think -- there might be a track I forgot to write down, and I haven't listened to the recording yet to cross-check).

Artist - Song - Label

Mawglee - Soya - Tru Thoughts (UK)
Treva Whateva - Music's Made of Memories - Ninja Tune (UK)
Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground (Umbrellas of Ladywell Remix #2 Instrumental) - Clean Up
Coldcut - Autumn Leaves - Ninja Tune (UK)
Only Child - When 6 Loves 9 - Grand Central (UK)
Max Sedgley - Slowly - Sunday Best (UK)
Black Grass feat. Dominique Noiret - Don't Leave Me This Way - Catskills (UK)
Kid Loco - Pearly Girly Man - Yellow (France)
The Underwolves - Let's Get Lost - Fat Fox (UK)
[? - somewhat illegible entry] 9 Lazy 9 - Take Nine - Ninja Tune (UK)
Bent - K.I.S.S.E.S. - Sport (UK)
[possible playlist hole]
Mos Def - Umi Says (Zero 7 Remix) - Djazz (UK white label)
Earl Zinger - Go Round - K7 (Germany/U.S.)
United Future Organization - On est ensemble sans se parler (L.O.V.E.) - Talkin' Loud (UK)
Ikon feat. Ian Britt - Dirty Girl - Jalapeno (UK)
Victor Davies - Brother (Victor Davies San Paulo Remix) - Flipside (UK)
Lizzy Parks - Raise the Roof - Tru Thoughts (UK)
Sébastien Tellier - La Ritournelle (Jake Bullit Mix) - Record Makers (France) / Lucky Number (UK)

During the changeover between my set and Zero 7's set, the folks at the sound board played the first four or so tracks from my mix CD "Live at Eighteenth Street Lounge":

Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington - Caravan - Verve (U.S.)
East of Suez - Marrakech - Bungalow (Germany)
Radar - Caravane - Bar de Lune (UK)
Bonobo - Flutter - Ninja Tune (UK)

The sound board folks also played the same CD after the end of Zero 7's set, starting again from the beginning with "Caravan."

Nice....how was the show? Did Z7 do anything from their first 2 LPs?

The show was good, I thought.  Their new album has a number of tracks that are less accessible and more noodly than their older material, but they did enough of the older stuff -- plus the more accessible tracks from their new album -- to satisfy the fanbase that they built on the more soaring, "pretty" stuff.

I found a pic of a set list online from their NYC show (the day after the D.C. one), and I think D.C. had the same set list.

Transcribed (image at http://djkyu.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/L1070563.jpg):

Count Me Out
Mr McGee
Pop Art Blue
Zizou
Speedo
Swing
Home
Ghost sYMbOL
The Road
Destiny
Flame
Sees/Peeps
Dogs/Abs
Medicine Man

encore:
Waiting Line
The Pageant of the Bizarre
All of Us

The same blog where I found the set list pic also had a bunch of pics of the show itself, and a review:
