The Public Good at Iota Friday 2/18 - PBS/NPR benefit
« on: February 15, 2011, 01:07:53 pm »
DC band The Public Good makes good on its name -- and comes to the aid of public broadcasting.

At their show this Friday night at the IOTA Club in Arlington, VA, the Washington, DC-based band The Public Good will donate all proceeds from CD and merchandise sales to PBS and NPR. Band members have family who work for both organizations, and they intend to use this show to raise both money and awareness that Congress has once again threatened the funding of both organizations.

The band has invited John Boehner to come sing counterpoint if he so desires.

The show starts at 9pm, Friday, Feb 18. The IOTA is located at 2832 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. www.iotaclubandcafe.com

The Public Good has developed a cult following inspired by the band's special mix of pounding rock and roll, brain-wrenching on-stage IQ quizzes, and occasional costume dramas. Blurt Magazine recently named the band one of "Rock and Roll's Best Kept Secrets" and their songwriting has also been praised by Billboard and SPIN. Their song "My Pre-Existing Conditions" (http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/2707630)  has received extensive airplay on independent radio stations.   www.reverbnation.com/thepublicgood
