Secret's Out
Coachella has had acts who've packed a lot of bodies on stage -- the white-robed wonders of the Polyphonic Spree, the myriad musicians of Belle and Sebastian, costumed crazies with the Flaming Lips and a passel of Perry Farrell's dancers all come to mind. Gnarls Barkley is making that group photo a tough assignment too; Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo have 14 backup musicians.

And this just in: Gnarls Barkley's is playing a "secret show" (well, maybe not so secret now) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Roxy. It's free. It's first-come, first-served. Let the line starting forming on Sunset Boulevard now.

Just got back this evening.  There were many great performances, but the highlights for me were Massive Attack, Daft Punk and The Dears. One of the biggest surprises for me was Wolfmother.  I could barely get in the Mojave Tent, but what I saw was great.  Others that I really enjoyed: My Morning Jacket, Mates of State, Giant Drag, THe Octopus Project and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

(hi, katie)

daft punk was beyond brilliant. i thought about selling my day 2 ticket and chilling at the pool because i knew everything would pale (it did, although massive attack & seu jorge were great).

when those four gongs at the beginning of "aerodynamic" came on...then it went directly into "one more time"... i will probably never again experience a more live/louder concert crowd than that moment. that tent absolutely exploded.

if you have the means, fly out to spain or belgium and catch them. it will be more than well worth it.

i'll try and put up some pictures soon..

im sure a few people booed but most of the 30k that stuffed the sahara tent and its outside surroundings were going hysterically apeshit.

Reportedly, she was 20 minutes late and only played six songs - mostly newish ones.

Were there still way too many women sporting those Asian paper parasols?  I always found that most disconcerting -- even more so than last year when everyone donned their Gram Rabbit ears.
