the capitals are in the playoffs, and that means that it's time for me to put my beard to work. a playoff beard is a hockey tradition, and most players don't shave during their team's playoff run. i haven't shaved since the season should have started (let's not talk about that whole lockout thing), and i won't shave until the caps either win the stanley cup (yay!) or get elminated (boo!). what's better than a playoff beard? a whole season beard, that's what.
the Beard-A-Thon will raise money for the Fuel Fund of Maryland, which works to make sure needy families in Maryland keep their heat and utility bills paid. i have helped raise several thousand dollars over the last few years by doing this. i'm hoping for another big year, thanks to generous donations from folks like you.
