MUSE past US tours question
« on: September 14, 2013, 04:28:38 pm »
I know that MUSE's official website is supposed to be accurate, but I could have sworn Muse had a show before it's '2004' 9:30 Club show - I thought they did a show over at a small club on 14th st. (no, not the Black Cat).

???

They did a small club tour before the 930 Club show that year. They skipped DC on the small club tour and then Matt sprained or broke his ankle which cancelled the most of that mini-tour anyway. I had tix to see them at Kyber in Philly which was the closest date to DC on that small tour and it cancelled.

They did play Metro in Chicago that year and I think there was a club called Metro in DC on 14th back then. Are you maybe confusing venue/cities?

They played on the side stage at Curiosa at Merriweather a few months before the 9:30 show.

Yep, Metro Cafe on 14th between O and P.  I saw a bunch of shows there in 2002 (Bardo Pond, Neil Halstead, a bunch of locals, etc).  It closed not long thereafter.  Not sure Muse ever played there, but I did like seeing shows there even though the owner was a total nutjob.

from the muse board:

First Muse gig in DC: April 17, 2000 at Metro Cafe (Maybe five to ten people in attendance at this tiny venue which closed about ten years ago). I watched a show there back in 1999.

Man, that Curiosa fest was really fun. Muse tore it up. I was always hoping that fest would come back.

I saw them at Coachella and then just loved them.  Saw both the 930 show and Curiosa.  Was awesome.  I didn't think they were as good opening for U2, but it could be because they were the opening band.

okay, I'm not crazy... thank you very much.  I really don't recall the audience being THAT small - wow.

I really liked their live show when they played cole Fieldhouse back in the day. Saw them with Miss P a few years later at Patriot Center and they had stepped up their stage show but there was a horrible smell in the building for much of the concert which rendered much of the concert unenjoyable.
