so, how was your 4th of july?

to those thinking that they missed something in NYC today, i can confirm that you did indeed miss something good.  the feelies were quite decent, nothing mind-blowing but damn fun.  i suspect that long-time fans of the band thought that their set was amazing.  sonic youth killed it.  they were tight, the music was fun and energetic, and the band was enjoying itself.  got 2 encores and a total of 1.5 hours out of the band.  despite an occasional sprinkling of rain, the crowd was great.  a few too many pix.  the show was broadcast by WFMU and a few tapers were in the crowd, i suggest that SY fans make an effort to track down a recording of this show.  t'was nice to meet up with xNWx and The Boardee Formerly Known As Sal Paradise.

hey seth - any interest in bringing SY to the club?

Thanks for sharing the pics. As an old Feelies fan, I am glad to hear it was a good set. I hope they enjoyed enough to keep doing it long enough to get to DC.
Seth, how about the same pairing for two nights at the club?
Am I the only one who thinks that Kim G. gets hotter ever year?

sorry i didn't get to see you!  it was soo crowded up front when i finished shooting.  i had to leave during 100% so i'm not sure what i missed, but i did go back and look for you for a bit and couldn't find you!  oh well, i am sure we will be at the same shows around these parts sometime soon.
the show was sick; kim totally forgot the lyrics to drunken butterfly.  i kind of wanted to run up there and finish singing it.
heard chloe sevigny was there but did not see her.
photos up here and will be something on BYT monday or tuesday...

im still way too tired to write anything really coherent, but Sonic Youth put on an amazing show. It was nice that the skies held out for us with just a sprinkling of rain. Great to hear so much from Daydream Nation.

I liked the Feelies as well. A friend said during the show 'hey remember this song, it was insanely popular'. I knew more songs than I thought which was nice, but I must say I was laying out in the grass for most of their set trying to connect with a bunch of friends. And their music was perfect in that situation.

Was great to see the elusive sal_paradise. i think we agreed that we hadnt seen each other since October or November at a show. i guess ill be seeing you at supergrass too (if you ever come back to read this). Or ill be making a trip to BK.

Sweetcell - fun to catch up with you as always. Sorry that things were so chaotic with trying to meet up and find each other at bars.  :)  But glad you found us and hopefully got that beer. A friend said an extra stella ended up at our table, but no body knew whose it was so the waitress took it back. we realized today it was probably yours.

ended up making it down to catch the fireworks and was going to look for you down there, but that didnt happen and then we just went back to more bars. oh and thanks for pronouncing Tortoise. hehehe man my friends get weird when we drink. i guess thats what happens when you hang out with the dutch and the irish.

was an awesome 4th of July.

Oh yeah - and Joe Marshmallow - really cool to finally meet you as well. Ill say hi to Cali for you next time im there  :)

and anytime you guys are in the city - get in touch. im always up for drinks or something. id invite you as well betty - but im pretty sure youre not legal to drink.

Another wild Fourth of mayhem, although not quite as wild as last year, perhaps owing to the rain.
