Missed Frank Black -- beer line was 25 minutes long.
The Foo show was great. Two full hours, some real gems beyond the songs from the acoustic disc of "In Your Honor." February Stars and floaty [sung by the amazing Petra Haden] were my highlights. Friend of a Friend has also really gotten to me over repeated listens, and hearing the story behind it added real poignancy.
Those songs, and all the stage banter/discussion/jokes/stories, made for a really amazing show (particularly amazing if you're a big fan). Dave treated this show almost like a Storytellers episode, but much more fun (and he didn't converse between every song). It's especially fun that he's from virginia, so he tells some great stories about being home again.
There were 8 musicians onstage, including Pat Smear and Petra Haden (I was one of about 7 or 8 who stood when Smear was introduced, and the only one who stood for Petra!). Grohl even mentioned that dog.!
So yes, it was an acoustic show with the musicians sitting, but they could really rip it up.
Also, though I'm generally weary of hearing "Everlong", the encore version was incredible. Grohl played alone for 2/3 of the song, then the band came in for a full on wash of music to wrap up the show. Really amazing.
Inevitably, I'm REALLY pumped for the electric show in Atlantic City this Friday. While I'm thrilled I got a chance to catch one of the few acoustic shows, I missed the energy of standing/dancing/jumping and singing along (loudly).
