....any longer.

"David Palmer, a former keyboard player for Jethro Tull, has changed his name and then he was a Dee. David Palmer is now Dee Palmer after a successful sex change operation.

Palmer was the keyboard player for Jethro Tull between 1969 and 1980. He played on all the classics including 'Thick As A Brick', 'Aqualung' and 'Locomotive Breath'.

David Palmer joined the army when he left school. His intention was not to kill but to learn a musical instrument. He learned how to play clarinet in the army and studied at the Royal Military School of Music.

When he left in 1980, he formed Tallis but this Tull life survived again later when Ian Anderson recruited him to work on a TV special for his solo album. He also performed on an orchestral album of Jethro Tull covers, which lead to similar albums for Genesis and Pink Floyd.

Palmer has played on sessions for Chris Isaak 'Speak of the Devil', Cake 'Prolonging the Magic', Queen 'Jazz', Seal 'Human Beings' and Paul Young 'Between Two Fires'.

He will now start work on his first solo album.

Palmer isn't the first musician to have a sex change operation. Walter Carlos, a collaborator with Richard Moog, inventor of the Moog Synthesiser, had a sex change operation in 1967. As Wendy Carlos, she went on to create the popular Switched On Bach album in 1969 and composed and performed on the soundtracks for 'A Clockwork Orange', 'The Shining' and 'Tron'.

Are you sure that's true?  I read about that earlier this week and wondered about it's validity.  I thought it might be an Onion like article.

There's a joke in there about skin flutes and male organs...but I'll let Mankie tell you about it.    :)
