Bonnie "Prince" Billy
« on: March 31, 2004, 10:39:00 am »
So whats the deal with Greatest Palace Music? I've never listened to his stuff and picked up a copy a few weeks ago because I thought it would be a good introduction to his stuff. I still haven't listened to it yet but I've noticed all these reviews panning it, saying he's ruined the songs with bad reinterpretations.

Just curious if anyone else has listened to it...

A friend made me a copy of Viva Last Blues back when it came out ('95?'96?), and I saw him play in '96.

One of the worst shows I had ever been to. It was so bad that I thought perhaps that he was the opening act. When i discovered it was him, I was like "Is this it?"

Anyway...Here's a link to a pretty long interview with him where he talks about the new album and lots of other things.

I'm curious to what the new album sounds like; I've been sort of scared off from picking it up due to the reviews (I think it was the allmusic review that mentioned a 'nash vegas' sound), but it does sound interesting.
