 Time again for another alcohol-fueled onslaught of post-punk/indie goodness at the Marx Cafe. Expect a plethora of both old and new favorites, with a smattering of just released U.K. import-only singles. And speaking of fresh sounds, we'll be previewing tracks from the soon-to-be released second album from Colder, "Heat." I love The Rosemarys. Especially the song "Catherine". Or is it "Katherine"? I think it's the one with the "C". The more upbeat version.
 
 Have you heard Hope Chest yet? The bass player from The Rosemarys is in the band and they sound just like them. Their song "Three" is pure Rosemarys through and through. Can't wait to get their CD.

 I love the song "Three" by Hope Chest! I can't believe I still haven't played that one. Have you heard any of their other stuff? All I've heard is "Three" courtesy of Groovy Jim. I thought I read they had a cd out but I'll be damned if I can find where to buy it...

You caught me! Yes, I must admit that I was grooving out again.
 
 Hope Chest had a couple earlier EPs, or something along those lines, that are now out of print. Just read the other day that they are releasing a full CD due out sometime in July.
 
 I've got a couple MP3s of their's, (2 I think) that I'll set you up with. One of them being "Three". Keep your eyes and ears opened for them.       At this point, that's all I've been able to locate until they finally get the CD out. When I find out more, I'll let you know.

The best part about that one was just about everyone was dancing to it! Man, I've been wanting to hear that song at Mousetrap from the word go but it's never been played. Mark Zimin (the main dj of Mousetrap) is not a Trash Can fan, so I can honestly tell you that was the first time it got aired. So cool that so many people were into it...I do wonder though how many people actually *knew* the song. Maybe 2 or 3 people...
 
 But as much fun as it was to play that song, the highlight for me was getting the whole place to dance to "Sensitive" by The Field Mice. If you don't know this song, think of what New Order would have sounded like if they jammed with the Jesus and Mary Chain during their "Psycho Candy" period. I'm not kidding. I know The Field Mice have this twee reputation and all, but they let loose with the loud guitars on a few of their earlier songs...shit man, I should definitely whip that one out again tonight!

I can't make it tonight, but have a GREAT time.  And kudos on the Mousetrap appearance!  There'd been a pretty clear degradation of the set lists and mixing a couple years ago and I stopped going...maybe it's time to give it another whirl.

you think so?  maybe they thought it was a smiths b-side =) ... i love that song, but i cringe at the lyrics every time i hear it
