hollywood is dead
« on: July 31, 2008, 01:58:00 pm »
first they ruined the image of the lost boys with the straight to dvd sequel.  then the new indiana jones. then the rumours swirl about goonies 2.  now we have austin powers 4 in the works.  and now . . . i have found out they are remaking the untouchable movie, rocky horror picture show, by MTV (!!!!!) with perhaps jake gyllenhaal as brad, and (gulp) pete wentz as frank.  i think i'll go listen to public enemy's "burn hollywood burn."

any other films being remade/redone that burn your ass?

and i just saw the new batman for the first time last night.  what a "one trick pony" of a movie.  don't mess with burton's masterpiece. just like what happened to him when he messed with wonka.

Austin Powers should've stopped at 2. 3 was bad and now he's just beating a dead horse with it.

As for Hollywood in general, I don't like blockbuster movies. Hell!! Give me an open checkbook and I could come up with something watchable...it's the low budget independents that I much prefer.

don't bank on the goonies 2/remake. there have been discussions of that since about 2000 and nothing has come of it...

I just don't get this board's obsession with the Goonies.  Isn't that like, really stupid?  Right along side Karate Kid and the Big Trouble in Little China?

Dude, are you high? Big Trouble in Little China is a classic. Seriously, that's a funny ass movie. "This is gonna take crackerjack timing, Wang." Man, I'm laughing just thinking about it.

To this day, anytime I catch something thrown my way unexpectedly, I'll still say "A fine blade.  Goodbye, Mr. Burton!" before throwing it back.  Man, I love that movie...
