LOLLA WTF? V FEST COUP?

Smashing Pumpkins just confirmed they're play V Fest on August 5th, if that is indeed their first N. American date then they're NOT playing Lolla. does anyone have any other info?  My sources are dumbfounded as well.  I ask again, is Richard Branson off the reservation with the assertion that Pimlico is the 1st date?

i just dont see why that just because they are from chicago means they HAVE To play lollapalooza!
   they are businessmen, they probably got a better offer from Branson and/or they just couldnt work a deal out with lolla, like maybe lolla has all of their headliners already!
 
 who knows, or maybe they are playing lolla and chicago is now part of europe.

It wasn't based on them being from Chicago, it was based information from those that will be supplying the fest with items that indicated their presence,  not to totally out my sources.  But the point is they WERE supposed to play, if Branson "outbidded" in order to have a couple of major American headliners for his US fest that wouldn't be all that surprising I suppose but weird nevertheless.

They have this invention now called an airplane which would enable people who are say, in a band, to play a show in Chicago one night, and then (gasp!) FLY 2 hours to Baltimore to play the next night.

actually, since SP are playing Vfest on 8/5 (a sunday) and lolla ends on Sunday, they would have to play on the same day in Chicago AND Baltimore, and seeing as they are headline material...seems unlikely.
 
 because if they played Lolla on friday or saturday, then the whole "first north american date" thing that Vfest said would be false.

That was my point precisely.  Now there is a best scenario here, as long as Daft Punk Headlines Friday or Saturday I'll come back for the 2nd day of V Fest, and all be right in the world and "my sources" will be forgiven.
