My sister just saw the LA show and said he was wonderful.  Even had funny sense of humor, which you wouldn't have guessed if you listened to his albums....

i have no idea what time to get there. i think i'll wing it and get there later rather than earlier.

must say, not super thrilled to see him in this venue. would be much more excited to see him at the 930. though, i guess considering the music, probably better its a seated venue.

A friend just told me Ticketmaster has tix available right now for the Damien Rice show. This is a busy night for shows. I'm going to see Forward Russia at the Black Cat.

hrmmmnnn. mixed feelings on last night. swell season, fantastic, as expected. damien, well, as my friend put it, a bit too self indulgent at times. did find the end of cheers, darlin', very nice. but the a good 30 minutes of the show with his reworked songs that featured too much feedback/pedal action, i could do without. i snoozed then!

lincoln is a lovely venue. been here all these years and never been there. wouldn't want to see a high energy/dancing type show there, but would be fabulous for say, kate bush, alejandro escovedo, etc.

talk about contrast...damien rice songs are heartfelt (yes, I didn't like the rockin' songs either)..the swell season, however, i could live without...their songs are so pedestrian and extraordinarily boring ("leave" - lol), fake, and awkward. and what is up with that "star star" song...that's the most ridiculous song i've ever heard.

star, star, is a frames song. marta, whom glen sang with last night, met in prague when the frames were touring there a few years ago. they formed swell season last year.

frames, are not for everyone. then again, neither is damien rice. i know people who love the frames, and think damien rice is pedestrian, and vice versa.

the show was amazing, minus The Swell Season.  The guy's voice was awful.

my favorite part during the entire show was the girl who got on the piano and did a cover of The Flaming Lips, "Fight Test"...its too bad half the crowd had no clue what was going on

I believe she was also the one that did "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes, on the cello, in 2003.
