Agreed.  It's a strange thing to have to defend the Springsteen's work.  He's the Boss, for god's sake!

 But a few bad songs/record covers shouldn't outshine his best work, which was stellar.

Springsteen also once said his favorite current band was Old 97's. Thus, his taste must be impeccable.

 Admittedly, much of Springsteen's eighties output is really, really bad (with the notable exception of Nebraska) and his nineties stuff is pretty mediocre (in my opinion).  But those records from the seventies are outstanding.  Brilliant lyrics.

i don't a reason to argue the boss's importance in the mainstream. sounds like the indie rock vacuum is where he is lacking cred

hardly. i'd say there's a wide range of music appreciated on here, and there's more hatred here for the indie rock establishment like pitchfork than there is love.
