This show was incredible. I laughed, I cried, I ate an extra scoop of ice cream. Did anybody else catch it?

 'MONIQUE'S FAT CHANCE' DEBUTS SATURDAY

Plus-size ladies strut their stuff this Saturday (August 6th) on Mo'Nique's Fat Chance, a new reality series hosted by curvy comedienne Mo'Nique. The show features 10 full-figured women and follows them through auditions, beauty boot camp, and a beauty pageant. The contest winner will be $50,000 richer by the time the show wraps, have a modeling contract with Just My Size, and will be crowned "Ms. Fabulous And Thick" -- FAT for short.

Mo'Nique's Fat Chance was created by Mo'Nique, a woman probably as well known for her pride in her size as she is for turns on the UPN comedy The Parkers and movies like Soul Plane. No lightweight herself, Mo'Nique says that Fat Chance is about empowering hefty women: ["This show, it's about empowerment. It's about saying be happy in the skin you're in. Yes, we're girls -- we like make-up and we like pretty clothes and we like our hair to look nice but don't change anything baby. Be comfortable in your skin. We can enhance, but this show is about empowerment. This show is about saying 'I am who I am and I love me.'"]

The contestants on Mo'Nique's Fat Chance range in age from 21 to 44, and are representative of several ethic groups. Mo'Nique says each contestant was picked because of their can-do attitude: ["We were looking for girls with the attitude that said, 'I am and I can.' And when you actually watch the show, you'll know just what I mean by that. In their interviews and through their tears, they felt like they belonged. So those are ladies that got picked. That felt like 'I'm supposed to be here' with no apologies in their heftiness."]
Mo'Nique's Fat Chance premieres Saturday (August 6th) at 8 p.m. ET on Oxygen.
