Anyone else a fan of this service? I used to listen to spinner at work but stopped a while ago.
Tuned in this morning and found spinner had become netscape radio. In an hour of listening, I was really, really impressed.
Toggling between the Indie, Melancholia, Alt-Country, and AAA stations for only half an hour, I heard a great song by a band called Little Red Rocket, whose main members went on to become Azure Ray; a song from the Elvis Costello/Steve Nieve live record; Aging Spinsters from the first 6ths album; a song from the Radar Brothers' Singing Hatchet; a great old Marine Research song; something from one of the Mountain Goats' b-side comps; and lots of other good stuff.
Even though there were no DJs, it almost seemed like there were because the songs seemed so well-chosen and sequenced. Not just the predictable singles or new songs, but a great cross-section of stuff.
They have the advantage over satellite in having probably three times as many stations- if only I could get it in my car. I wonder if the bandwith capabilities of satellite will ever allow this kind of programming...
