What does that have to do with how good they were last night?  How do you know how long I've been listening to them?  Kosmo's been a fan since the beginning, and I would have reacted the same way to last night whether I'd never seen them before or seen them 40 times.

couple more thoughts...

It's worth noting that 3/4ths of Sloan still have the same haircut 12 years down the road.

Jet has become the new Pete Yorn.  By taking Sloan on the road with them this summer, its another case of the opener being better than the headliner.  Hopefully, the Jet fans will be more appreciative of Sloan and become converts.

Seeing as the new Sloan was just released in the US, Thursday was my first opportunity to here the material.  My intial reaction was that the songs sounded like the last tapes of the "Navy Blue" session.  Cranked up the cd in the Mini and come to find out it's actually got the 70's rokc sensibilities of "Navy Blue" combined with the lusher pop of "Twice Removed"  leaving it an awe inspiring record!!!!  It has rocketed up the charts into my third fav Sloan record.  The band is truly at the top of it's game these days.

If Sloan ever gets back to DC it's going to be a killer show.  With a healthy Chris Murphy doing up to his usual stage antics and a couple more classics in the setlist in replace of the new stuff.  A killer show will be in order.

I enjoy this  write up of the Sloan/Jet summer bill....

An excerpt:  "Canada's favorite power-pop quartet, Sloan, will attempt to disprove the theory that oil and water do not mix on their upcoming U.S. tour, where they'll be opening for everyone's favorite faux-cover band, Jet."

Also discusses the Sloanfest on August 7th which will include Sam Roberts, The Stills, The Constantines, Buck 65, Death from Above, and The Arcade Fire.

Fantastic, Grotty -- thanks....I have some friends who will LOVE it as well.

[Actually, not sure I should thank you.  I just spent $115 on posters!  Got some good gifts, though...]

Coincidentally, I just received this email after pimping his site:

 *************************

 Hey everybody,

Hope your summer is off to a rousing, rocking start.
Here's a quick reminder that I'm out here, selling posters.

I've gotten so much new stuff in since the last email, that I'm
not even gonna try to list it all here. If you haven't been to the
The Shame of Rock and Roll lately, come see what's new.
I've got more posters right now than ever before.

The section on the website for photos of customer's
purchases has gotten off to a really great start.  Keep
sending me your photos, and I'll post them. I love to see that
these posters aren't sitting, tubed in a closet somewhere.

Did anybody see my tiny classified ad in Rolling Stone last
month? I wonder if it encouraged any new business...
Send me a note if you shopped here for the first time as a
result of that ridiculously expensive ad.

Thanks for your continued support! I won't bother you again
 for a little while.

 I remain,

 Lee Jobe

This email composed while listening to a very kick-ass 5
song ep from I'm Gonna Stab You. If you like
Wire/Fugazi/Warsaw-era Joy Division, check it out!!

I really don't believe there's a better place to buy posters.

HA, and I just bought the last Sloan posters!  In fact I wanted 4 but only got 3.

It is a great site.  I got some Methane Studios posters that I've wanted for a while, but Methane wanted a money order for them, which is just too much work and I never got around to....
