GOOD to see Liam Gallagher hasn't mellowed in his old age. The Oasis rocker was back on hell-raising form yesterday, branding old enemy Robbie Williams a "fat twat".
Lovable Liam lashed out as he and brother Noel picked up two gongs - Best Album for Don't Believe The Truth and the People's Choice - at the lavish Q bash.
"Robbie's a twat" - and a fat one at that," he told 3am. "What's he got to be up himself about? Nothing. I haven't any time for him."
Robbie will be miffed, but probably only because recently he has taken to showing off his new flat tum.
But the Robster, currently promoting his new album Intensive Care, wasn't the only one on the receiving end of Liam's tongue at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Next in line was Coldplay's Chris Martin.
The Mancunian has already called him a "nerd" and branded his actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow a "gawky bird".
And when the Yellow singer went to collect his award for Best Act In The World, Liam heckled him, shouting: "Go on have a pop." However, vegetarian Chris refused to rise to the Gallagher goading. He joked during his acceptance speech: "I'm not very good at these. We're not fighting anyone except George Bush and his guys. Although Liam is being rude, I think he's a bit charming." However, Chris, who jetted over from America for the awards - leaving Gwyn and his two-year-old daughter Apple in the States - suggested it would be an unfair fight if he took on the loud-mouthed star when he spoke to 3am. "I could fight Liam but he is a bit short," he joked with us. "I'd rather take on the Sugababes any day."
"I can't believe we won this award" he added. "It means so much to me.
"I know a lot of people in the room hate us, but I don't care because today we're the best band in the world."
Not sure what they put in the food, but even lairy Liam managed to lighten up by the end of the ceremony as the champagne flowed.
"Actually, I much prefer Chris Martin to Robbie Williams," he admitted to us. "He's a nice guy and I really do get a buzz off his music.
"He's just a bit serious that's all. He needs to lighten up a bit."
Maybe he'll get his invitation for a macrobiotic dinner at the Martin household after all.
Liam also told us that he's picked our favourite party girl Charlotte Church as his new Champagne Supernova.
"I would love Charlotte to be my new drinking buddy," said the happily-attached Gallagher.
"She's a top bird. I like her."
We're sure her international rugby hunk Gavin Henson would be less than pleased to hear Liam's offer.
Now that would be a fight worth watching...
