Edgefest 2003

Are festivals any better in Canada?  You decide...

 From The Tragically Hip...

 Dear All,

This is exciting. We are pleased to be part of the final Molson Park concert. Over the years we have played this great outdoor venue in Barrie, Ontario many times. We always have a good time there. The venue brings out the best in us and our fans.

On Saturday September 6th, Edgefest 2003 takes over the park for one final day of music. So far the stellar lineup also includes, Our Lady Peace, The Stereophonics and Sloan. More great bands will be announced soon. This will be the first show we have played with The Stereophonics. Over the years we have tried  to set up a few shows with this fine Welsh band.

Tickets go on sale Saturday July 26th - 10 AM at all Ticketmaster outlets, TM phones (416 870 8000) and TM online (www.ticketmaster.ca). A limited number of Early Bird tickets are just $27.50 (GST included). Regular price $42.50 + applicable service charge.

We look forward to a great day of music and seeing you at this historic show.

 Two more things ...

Visit 102.1 The Edge radio site to find out how you can purchase tickets to the show early on Friday July 25th. Go to www.edge.ca/station/sp_edge_events.cfm

I thought this was going to be a concert in honour of my favourite U2 member, The Edge.

Still the stereophonics are pretty good.

ahh edgefest -- in the past i was able to see such bands as hole, the foofighters, green day, the hip, our lady peace, IME, Moist, Bif Naked, sloan, tea party, etc...but i was also exposed to creed...grrrrr...but in general, i'd say american festivals are better...at least the ones you get in large centers...i can't vouch for toronto...

Sarnia Bayfest on July 19th had both Foo Fighters and Cheap Trick co-headlining (so each playing a full set).  If they'd had Sloan open instead of Pete Yorn, I would have been there in a heartbeat; nothing would have kept me away.  I was planning on going, but upcoming international travel plans got in the way and I've seen each band a couple times this year....

I don't see any fest topping the Austin City Limits Fest this year.

He's gone disco again except for hoping to get some blues or bluegrass on the "take action tour" of emo and punk bands....
