Velvet Revolver
« on: May 15, 2007, 10:30:00 am »
I don't really like VR (don't really know any of their songs) but if Slash and Duff are at 9:30, I'm there.

Let's remember the good times.  GNR at the Ritz in February 88.  MTV showed the full set and it goes down as one of the best shows I've ever seen on video.

I, on the other hand, much prefer VR to GnR.  Axl's voice is akin to a drunk male gorilla scraping his nails down a chalkoard whilst having his balls squeezed tightly in a vice.  Thats some of the worst 'singing' (for lack of better term) known to mankind.

Was there ever a roll call for this?  I'm really looking forward to this one.

FYI - The start time appears to have changed since it was posted earlier today.  The front page now shows:

 Doors 7:30
 The Actual 8:45
 Velvet Revolver 9:50

Would anybody actually admit to paying $55 for a ticket to this one, if there was a roll call?

I recorded that concert off MTV.  Thanks to YouTube I do not have to dig in a box to find my betamax video.

It rocked.  They're a kick-ass rock and roll band,  Nothing more.  Nothing less.

The only STP song I recognized was Vaseline.  For covers they did "Wish You Were Here" and "Psycho Killer".  The did a song called "I Used To Love Her", which I think is a cover that GnR did.  Not sure.

They came on right on time.  Played for about 1:20.  It was being taped for something.  Serious cameras, including one of those overhead swinging boom-type cameras that hovered over the crowd.

Quite the party atmosphere.  Great show.
