They could call it "The 9:30 parlay."
« on: March 08, 2007, 09:28:00 am »
Had anyone ever gone to an early show AND a late show at the 9:30 club?  I think if you get tickets to both you should get a $2.00-$3.00 discount.

Speaking of which, does anyone think either the Albert Hammond Jr. and/or The Stooges shows will sell out before next Wednesday's The Good, The Bad and The Queen show?  I could just wait until then and wouldn't need a $2.00 discount.

 Brian

P.S.  I'm kidding about the discount.  I'm not that cheap.  I do think the Stooges show may sell out quickly.  However, I'm not good at judging sellouts.  Shows I thought would sell out in a couple hours have not sold out and shows I thought no one in their right mind would want to see have sold out in five minutes.

There have been a few double shows I've considered, but I have yet to follow through.  I have done two shows at different venues - 9:30 to Black Cat.

Did anyone else besides me used to walk back and forth from 9:30 Club to DC Space? One night I caught partial sets of Gang Green, Jawbox, Social Distortion and a full set of the Melvins all in one night haha

I'm considering doing this for The Books and Ratatat.

Some guy and his wife did both the Nancy Sinatra and the Cramps one day.

Often the shows are so different that there is not that much crossover in the crowds.

I've done the 9:30 and the Black Cat in one night (Neko Case and Art Brut), and I've also done the Birchmere and the 9:30 in one night (Lhasa and My Morning Jacket).  Never two shows at the same club, though . . .

i did the sonic youth back to back show last summer.  exhausting but worth it.  i've also done a 930 gig and then walked over for a black cat show.

I remember the time 9353 was playing the old 930 club, and between sets we walked to DC Space to catch Crippled Pilgrims... walked to the Pension Building to catch the Residents...  then walked over to Oscar's Eye to see Nuclear Crayons... then took a bus up to the Ontario Theater to see REM... walked across town to the Wilson Center to catch Government Issue... took the 14th St bus back down and walked across to Chinatown to get some food at Big Wong... made it back to the 930 in time for the latter part of 9353's second set...  missed the opener though.  :(

I did Interpol/Blonde Redhead as an early show then Fatboy Slim later on as the late show back in '05. I think me and my friend were the only ones; the fanbases seemed counter-opposites, as you'd imagine.

I'll probably catch Laurie Anderson at UMCP on 4/5 since I'm already there. Then ... Stooges

last year I saw Anti-Flag and then Ladytron in the same day.  I'm not really into Anti-Flag, but my friends wanted to go, and I wanted to see Ladytron, so we agreed to see both.
