Places to see bands in Washington D.C?
« on: August 02, 2004, 11:03:00 am »
Hi, I'm a British exchange student starting UMD at College Park in 3 weeks. I'd like to know some cool places to see bands in that area, but I haven't had much luck searching the internet. I only found this place on the killers website; i'd really like to see them if they're playing, but it doesn't have them listed on this site  :(

Is there any way I can find out what bands are playing, without searching for specific bands? e.g. a list of bands as found on www.gigsandtours.com (UK site, the one I usually use - has A-Z of Artists)

Anyway, If anyone can help me out with any sites that would be great, thanks a lot!

 Claire

Check out  Pollstar.  Search on Washington, DC in the "City Schedule" (be sure to check the "include surrounding cities" box).

Hey just throwing it out.
I'm still a little new to the DC concert scene too. I've been here a year but been caught up in work (now not a problem as I've been fired) but I know it sucks going to shows alone (it's almost my main deterent since I find it damn near impossible to navigate my car in the city). But if your in need of a body to company or just read mapquest directions I'm dieing to see shows.Any shows.
The offers out and I'm just sick of standing in my own little corner at great shows.
Thanks also to some of the people posting venue sites, still a lot of them I don't know about always helps to know.

Check out the "Roll Call" posts when a show is coming up. If there's a show you're interested in, chances are someone from the board will be there. I go to shows alone all the time. I'm starting to run into other board folks almost every time I head out.

i always go to concerts alone....so stop bitching. i ride the metrobus/train 60-90min. and stand in line for at least 90 minutes at shows. playing the same 2 fucking cellphone games...

just break down and go by yourself. bring a book or something....thats a good idea, i guess i'll try it...
