You'll be happy to know that the Heavenly States will be playing a show along with Swords (formerly the Swords Project) at the Velvet on September 20th. It is sorta a BigYawn event, but not officially. We honestly had nothing to do with the States being on the bill, but it is shaping up to be a cool night. Spread the word...

I may not be able to see The Heavenly States at CMJ now (long story), so I might catch them at the Velvet. (Though the late set times put me off.) You might want to tell the Velvet that the VL web site has them listed as the "Heavenly SHOES." Honestly, who updates their site?!

I'd recommend hitting one of several Dungen shows if you get the chance.Dungens Bowery Ballroom show with New Pornographers would be my choice. Also the Rainbow Quartz showcase at Arlenes Grocery should be a good one. It's a shame Sidonie couldn't make it.One of these days!

When  there is Scandinavian psych pop in DC, it's usually time well spent, not to mention a decently priced ticket.
