Cancer research (Pink NFL)
« on: October 23, 2012, 03:54:02 pm »
since people are talking about Lance Armstrong helping to raise money/awareness for cancer research, thought I'd post about all the NFL pink stuff.  Not surprisingly, very little of the money raised actually goes to cancer research.  Check this article for some stats:

Sometimes you have to ask yourself:

How reliable of a source is a website called hogshaven.com?

does the writer really think that when he buys a $100 jersey, $100 will go to cancer research?  does he think that the league isn't going to be paid its costs?  there may be a gripe to be made that the pink thing only get $3.84, instead of something a little higher (i.e. the NFL could contribute more or all the profits from the sale, instead of its current fraction).  but if he was ever stupid enough to think that $100 of his sale ended up in the charity's hands... well, he's stupid.

It's all fucking bullshit. Like Liar Lance Armstrong, the money only goes to "cancer awareness," not cancer research itself.

Right after Gary Bettman, Roger Goodell needs to be hit by a bus.

It has nothing to do with curing cancer. Fuck off, already.
